What We Collect (And Why)

1. Your Audio (Temporarily)

What: When you use Voz, you record audio in your browser.

Why: To transcribe your speech into text.

How long: Seconds. Literally. Your audio is sent to Groq Whisper for transcription, then immediately deleted. We never store recordings.

Who sees it: Groq's AI transcription service. That's it.

2. Your Text (Temporarily)

What: The transcribed text from your audio.

Why: To clean it up and format it (remove "ums," fix grammar, apply styles).

How long: Seconds. Text is sent to DeepSeek AI for formatting, then immediately deleted.

Who sees it: DeepSeek's AI formatting service. That's it.

3. Anonymous Usage Data

What: When you use a feature (voice recording, rewrite, templates), we log:

• Anonymous user ID (randomly generated, not tied to you)
• Feature used
• Timestamp

Why: To understand which features are most popular so we can improve Voz.

How long: Stored indefinitely in aggregate form (e.g., "1,000 users used rewrite this month").

Who sees it: Only our team. Never sold or shared.

What We DON'T Collect

• ❌ Your name
• ❌ Your email (unless you sign up for the standalone app)
• ❌ Your recordings (deleted immediately)
• ❌ Personal info from your transcriptions (we don't read or store them)
• ❌ Browsing history, location, or any creepy tracking stuff

Who We Share With

Groq (Transcription Partner)

• What they do: Convert your audio to text using their Whisper AI model.
• What they get: Your audio file (temporarily).
• Their promise: Groq Privacy Policy

DeepSeek (Formatting Partner)

• What they do: Clean up and format your transcribed text.
• What they get: Your text (temporarily).
• Their promise: DeepSeek Privacy Policy

No One Else

We don't sell data. We don't share data. We don't monetize your privacy. Period.

How We Compare to Competitors

Unlike Otter, Grammarly, and Jasper, we don't store your recordings:

Your Rights

Access Your Data

Email us at privacy@voz.app and we'll send you everything we have (spoiler: it's just anonymous analytics).

Delete Your Data

• Chrome Extension: Uninstall it. All gone.
• Standalone App: Delete your account in settings. We'll wipe everything within 24 hours.

Opt Out of Analytics

In the extension settings, toggle "Share anonymous usage data" to OFF. (Coming soon!)

Security

• ✅ Encryption: All data is sent over HTTPS (industry-standard encryption).
• ✅ No Storage: Can't hack what doesn't exist. We delete everything immediately.
• ✅ Trusted Partners: Groq and DeepSeek use the same infrastructure as GitHub, Cursor, and other industry leaders.

Children's Privacy

Voz is not intended for children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from kids.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this policy, we'll:

1. Update the "Last Updated" date at the top
2. Email users (if you have an account)
3. Post a notice in the extension

Big changes = we'll ask for your consent before they take effect.
